A project involving 12 European countries and supported by the European Commission is taking the lead in ensuring healthcare interoperability in Europe.The project is akin to the building of a nationwide health information network, or NHIN, that is under way in the United States.

EU: eHealth Action Plan Progress report 2005
May 29, 2008This progress report describes the main results of a first year of work since the publication of the eHealth Action Plan (2004): activities undertaken in 2005 by the European Commission and Member States together. The report reveals that there has particularly been a very close cooperation between the Commission services and the members of the i2010 subgroup on eHealth.
